Quarantine Day 14

When you think of the word Quarantine, you think of people in the hospital in isolation because something bad has happened to them.  Two weeks ago, school was dismissed.   We  have been told to social distance ourself and isolate ourself in our homes.   Two of my students looked at me and asked what if we don't ever walk in your class again as seniors?  I laughed at the moment and told them this was just a precaution and nothing to worry about.  I told them to enjoy the two week Spring Break and stay safe.

At that time, we were told we could come back on March 30.  Well, here I am March 26, 2020.  The Covid-19 virus is 30 times worse than it was two weeks ago.  The governor has ordered all schools closed until April 17.   It is interesting how life can change in just a split second from something that is beyond our control on so many levels.

Since our move to Benton area, we have bought 40 acres of land with my in-laws.  We are waiting on our house to sell before we can start building.  In the mean time, I am living with my parents.  Doesn't that sound like the best quarantine situation ever!  A 47 year old woman living with her dad who can't hear anything and her mom who feels like she has to yell everything to keep my dad in line.

Don't get me wrong, it does have its perks....My mom makes my lunch.  My dad has coffee ready every morning when I leave.  If I asked, he would fix my breakfast every morning as well.  If I put my clothes in the washer, dad will come along and put them in the dryer.  After they get dry, my mother will find them and hang them up for me in my tiny make shift closet in her living room.  Dad takes out our trash and delivers any packages that arrive for us.  Mom makes dinner for us and always has left overs for us to snack on after school.  So, it is weird to be living with my parents at this age, but it is also awesome that I have these moments with them.  I didn't ask them to do all of this...They just want to help because they are so excited that we live here.  I may also be keeping my dad alive because he drives my mom crazy!  He never answers her phone calls.  He can't hear, so he makes up what he thinks people are saying and ends up getting it all wrong.

Back to the Quarantine, I am on day 14 of being isolated in my house.  I choose to be here because I have a grand baby on the way in two weeks, and if I am exposed in any way to the virus, then my daughter will not let me see the baby until he/she is almost 2 months old!  Sorry, but that is just not going to happen!

My routine this week has mostly consisted of walking, eating, sleeping and binge watching my shows.  Today, I played some game called Balls Master.  When I came home two weeks ago, I was on level 103.  Today, I am on level 910.  This is my quarantine life during this historical time.  I have also finished moving out of our house in DeWitt.  We hopefully have it sold.

So, life is a little boring, but there have been some crazy moments...like when my mom asked Siri to start a timer for the oven.  My dad answered because he thought she said "Hey Gary," and he came out of his office to tell her he couldn't set a timer for the oven.
