Day 18-Going a little crazy

Well, let's see....today was a good day.  I am starting to really miss my students.  I had zoom meetings with my students in three different classes.  That was nice to be able to see all of them.  My computer science kids all had their dogs with them in the meeting.  Bring your pet to class in computer science.  My 8th period web tech kids were excited to see me as well.  I didn't really watch much tv today.  Mostly worked on my computer and graded assignments.  I did get on social media.  I guess, I am going a little crazy and missing personal interaction with others!!!  You don't realize how much you need to just talk to someone.  My mother has made 2 or 3 videos of her playing the piano for Facebook.  She now takes request and I wouldn't be surprised if she is getting tips in her Facebook messages.  Mom and I did go to the post office in Bauxite.  We drove over 30 minutes for a flyer from Harbor Freight.  She then needed to go to Walmart which leads to my story

Quarantine Day 17

Well, today I am still at home in quarantine from the Corona Virus.  This stuff stinks.  I miss my kids.  I miss getting up early and going to work.  I miss my co workers.  I miss talks in my first period.  I even miss yelling at my kids that I am talking and they need to quieten down. So far today, I had breakfast this morning.  Worked on my computer answering emails. Called some students in my first and second period.  Had lunch.  Then, I worked on my computer some more and answered emails and called a few students. I am about to get on a Zoom meeting.  I am in a big debate with myself over these zoom meetings.  I am not sure I like them.  Basically, they are like teacher meetings to me.  Everything that can be said in a zoom meeting probably could have been sent in an email.  It is raining outside, so there goes my little walk that I was planning. For those who are wondering what is going on, this is a daily journal right now that I am doing along with my kids for the AMI as

Quarantine Day 14

When you think of the word Quarantine, you think of people in the hospital in isolation because something bad has happened to them.  Two weeks ago, school was dismissed.   We  have been told to social distance ourself and isolate ourself in our homes.   Two of my students looked at me and asked what if we don't ever walk in your class again as seniors?  I laughed at the moment and told them this was just a precaution and nothing to worry about.  I told them to enjoy the two week Spring Break and stay safe. At that time, we were told we could come back on March 30.  Well, here I am March 26, 2020.  The Covid-19 virus is 30 times worse than it was two weeks ago.  The governor has ordered all schools closed until April 17.   It is interesting how life can change in just a split second from something that is beyond our control on so many levels. Since our move to Benton area, we have bought 40 acres of land with my in-laws.  We are waiting on our house to sell before we can start b

Where to start.....

As a teacher, you face all kinds of interesting things in the classroom from silly questions to wonder of how you accomplished a task.  My life as a teacher has been probably more interesting than others.  So, here is my story.... I went to Henderson State University after graduating from DeWitt High School in a class of 93 students.  How do I remember that it was 93?  Well, back then, they took the top 10% as honor graduates and  they do not round up for anything!  So, guess who was #10 in the class.  Yep, ME!  I tried to get them to round up.  I even remember asking them to count the number of students again.  In hopes that they would find that there was 96 students and not 93. I graduated in December 1996 from Henderson State with a Bachelor's of Education in Business Education.  At the time, my husband and I had been married four years and we had a little girl.  The night I graduated, I felt sick and nauseous.    I was too excited to worry about it.  The next day, the feeli
